Work Permits?: A Right guaranteed by California law.

Share Post:

For different reasons people need to be absent from work, today there are different laws that allow workers to take time off without fear of losing their job.

The California work permit law is one of the most generous in the United States, we invite you to make use of this benefit when you deem it necessary.

Next, we leave some of the main reasons why a worker can be absent from work, as long as he meets some requirements specified in the law, such as length of service in the company or other:

  • Having a childbirth or being pregnant: An employee has access to up to 122 days of leave for complications during pregnancy or after childbirth.
  • Bonding with a new child: When a worker is the parent of either a biological or adopted child, she may have up to 12 weeks in a one-year period to care for or bond with her child.
  • Taking care of a relative: Workers have access to take up to 12 weeks off in a period of one year to take care of a close relative who needs it due to a complicated health condition.
  • Having a complicated health issue: The law allows a worker to have up to 12 weeks of medical leave for a complicated health condition.
  • Going to a loved one’s funeral: Workers dealing with the death of a loved one can take up to 5 days to grieve.

The right to have days off is a right guaranteed by law. If you were discriminated against when you applied for a work permit, you can contact us.
